One Destination at a Time
What is the Destination A11Y Club?
An invitation-only consortium of forward-thinking destinations committed to proactively expanding their inclusivity for visitors (and locals) who are disabled today thereby laying the groundwork for helping aging travelers tomorrow.
Why was the Destination A11Y Club created?
DMO’s who have built relationships with local businesses, visitors, and residents, are the ideal pathway to help their industry partners welcome people with disabilities. According to the newly released “Portraits of Travelers with Disabilities: Mobility and Accessibility” report by MMGY Global, when asked how destinations could better attract visitors with mobility disabilities, 81% said promotion of accessibility and lodging options by the destination was the most important factor. The Club promotes the sharing of ideas and best practices via quarterly zoom meetings and the exchange of accessibility information amongst members. The Club was created to help DMO’s accelerate the adoption of accessibility initiatives in their destination.
